OUR AIMS

The aims of the Corporation are exclusively charitable and solely in furtherance of the objectives of FAC is to improve the lives of children, seniors, women’s groups and youth as stated hereunder. The corporation is not-for profit organization established and run by volunteer members. Directors and members of the Corporation shall serve as such without remuneration or receiving, directly or indirectly, any pecuniary gain from their participation in the activities of the Corporation.

OUR OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Corporation shall be:

To improve the lives of children, seniors, women’s groups and youth

To provide Career Counseling

To support New Immigrant

To Provide Technology Training

To Organize Sports Activities

To Provide Faith based Youth Fellowship

To Provide Faith based Youth Mentorships

To Provide Volunteer Opportunities for Newcomers and Youth

To provide collaboration for empowerment, rehabilitation, and sustainable reintegration with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive support for black individuals and families

To assist and support new immigrants through free counseling, offering them assistance with job and housing search, and any other resources they may require

OUR activities

In furtherance of its objectives, the Corporation shall engage in any activity that is consistent with the provisions of these Bylaws and any applicable legislation, including the following:

Engage in, participate and sponsor fundraising activities, involving the general public, governmental and non-governmental organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders.
  • Lobby governments for positive change in public policy and legislation in all areas affecting the smooth settlement and integration of African immigrants, prevention and treatment of preventable diseases and the care of people who need care.
  • Advocate for the rights of people and other determinants of health and their families against discrimination in respect of access to health care services, immigration, employment, housing, social services and other internationally recognized human rights;
  • Collect statistical information, conduct research, and serve as a clearinghouse for information about members of the African-Canadian community as well as other African-Canadian communities in Canada.
  • To partner and collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organizations active in the global, national and local efforts to improve the lives and well-being of individuals and communities in Canada
  • Develop programs and/or projects that promote its stated objectives and administer these programs/projects on its own or in collaboration/partnership with other.
  • Raise awareness through workshops, seminars, and conferences on determinants of health (physical, social, economic, and cultural) including mental health to educate target community groups such as youth, parents of teenage and adolescent youth, single men and women among members of the African-Canadian.
